Embracing Gratitude: Reflecting on the Blessings of 2023

As I approach the dawn of a new year, I'm thrilled to express my gratitude for the incredible moments that shaped my 2023 journey. Reflecting on these pivotal experiences brings a deep sense of appreciation and excitement for what lies ahead.

A standout experience that significantly influenced my professional path was the IWA Grundfos Youth Action for SDG Fellowship. Emerging as one of the 13 global fellows, I found myself among young leaders who shared a collective commitment to amplifying awareness about Sustainable Development Goal 6 (SDG6). This fellowship became a unique platform for me to passionately advocate for a cause that resonates deeply with my heart and values.

The journey was truly exceptional. As participants in the fellowship, we attended the UN Water Conference 2023 held in the lively city of New York. This experience was immersive, allowing us to share ideas and insights on a global stage. In September, our collective journey took us to the Grundfos headquarters in Denmark, offering a first-hand opportunity to witness the innovation and sustainable practices that left an indelible mark on my perspective.

The zenith of our fellowship was reached at the IWA World Water Congress & Exhibition in Kigali, Rwanda, in December 2023. This gathering of like-minded individuals and experts provided a unique space for collaboration, learning, and the exchange of ideas. The impact of this event resonated deeply within me, underscoring the significance of our joint endeavors in addressing challenges related to water.

The standout aspect of the fellowship was our collective effort resulting in the publication of the book "Youth Action for SDG6". As part of this opportunity, I took on the responsibility to inspire more youth for SDG6. Hence, the initiation of "Water-A-Thon," a project inviting youth ideas for SDG6 was launched. The goal was simple: every idea, like each drop of water, holds significance, and this event provided a platform for youth voices. The findings of the Water-A-Thon project have been now published and if you really want to delve into the innovative ideas brought by young individuals, go read Chapter 1.3,

This year, I also had the honor of being a distinguished speaker at various prestigious events, both nationally and internationally. I shared insights at universities, schools, institutions, and other esteemed associations. Some of the notable platforms included IIHMR University, Poornima University, Vivekananda Global University, MNIT Jaipur, The Times of India, ASSOCHAM, CII, IWN Rajasthan, UNICEF, ISHRAE Society, and the Academic World Fair at RIC, Jaipur. These experiences serve as constant inspiration, motivating me to work even harder for my cause.

This year, I also explored diverse cities for professional growth and collaborations. I visited IIT Chennai, SRM, attended BIOASIA 2023 in Hyderabad, and Amity University Noida. These experiences not only broadened my knowledge but also offered valuable insights from various perspectives. A particularly special moment was revisiting Amity University after 14 years, returning to the place where I completed my Engineering. This nostalgic journey added a unique touch to my year.

Throughout the year, I had the privilege of meeting and drawing inspiration from remarkable individuals who consistently fueled my drive for greater achievements. Among these influential figures were the Water Man of India, Dr. Rajendra Singh, the dedicated IAS officer Ajitabh Sharma, the accomplished IFS officer Shailaja Deval, the visionary Padma Shri Mr. Sundaram Verma, and the highly respected Prof. Alok Dhawan. Additionally, I had the honor of interacting with Prof. Chetan Singh Solanki, renowned as the Solar Man of India. Their guidance and encouragement played a pivotal role in fortifying my resolve to work tirelessly and contribute meaningfully to my pursuits.

In the intricate mosaic of this year, my commitment to empowering women blossomed with the inception of a uniquely transformative initiative – the establishment of the WISE Center (Women's Innovation for Strengthening Empowerment). Launched alongside Project Swarooh, meaning 'knowing your soul,' this vision aims to inspire rural women, offering them metaphorical wings to ascend to new heights in two villages of Rajasthan. Through engaging sessions encompassing mandala art, menstrual hygiene awareness, fostering eco-consciousness, and embracing cultural celebrations, our objective is to cultivate creativity, spiritual growth, and a deep sense of community. Additionally, we aspire to empower these women by providing skill-building opportunities, enabling them to earn a livelihood.

In our relentless pursuit of sustainability, we are dedicated to nurturing eco-consciousness and fostering positive change. Our commitment echoes through the initiatives of the Prakrit Foundation, serving as a beacon of awareness and education about sustainable solutions. From exhibitions that showcase innovative ideas to engaging sessions on DIY composting for young students and women in urban and rural settings, our endeavors aim to empower communities for a greener planet.

In my quest to bridge the gap between science and society, and to instigate tangible change, I took the initiative to create a collective called "Change Makers of Jaipur." Understanding the significance of breaking down silos and fostering collaboration, this group unites individuals with a shared goal of making a positive impact.

A significant highlight was my inclusion in the She news feature of the Patrika Foundation. I was also acknowledged as a Jan Prahari (Change Maker), an initiative by the Patrika Foundation. Additionally, my efforts garnered attention from Dainik Bhaskar, and I had the privilege of being interviewed by Tadka FM.

Recently, I was honored with a felicitation from the NASI Rajasthan chapter, recognizing my noteworthy contributions to women in science in Udaipur. This prestigious acknowledgment serves as a testament to the dedication and impact of my work, a moment made even more special receiving it from the esteemed Padma Bhushan Prof. Manju Sharma and Padma Shri Prof. Balram Bhargava.

As I jot down these reflections, I am filled with awe and gratitude, recognizing how the year 2023 unfolded as a profound learning experience for me. Today, as I write my first post, I am thankful for all the opportunities that came my way, and to share glimpses of my transformative year with you.
